Dr. Vinay Kumar Shaw

Dr. Vinay Kumar Shaw is a highly respected and senior gastrointestinal, general, minimal access, and bariatric surgeon with over 25 years of extensive clinical and surgical experience. As Head of Department and Senior Consultant in his field, he has managed and treated more than 10,000 complex surgical cases, establishing himself as a trusted name in advanced laparoscopic and GI surgeries.

He completed his Master’s degree from GMCH, followed by specialized training in laparoscopic surgery at the Institute of Minimal Invasive Surgery, AMRI Kolkata. He further enhanced his expertise with a three-year senior residency and teaching experience at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, one of the most renowned tertiary-care teaching institutions in India. His advanced exposure includes training in Minimal Access Surgery in South Korea, reflecting his commitment to global best practices.

Dr. Shaw’s key areas of expertise include GI surgeries, GI oncological procedures, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries, bariatric surgery, and advanced laparoscopic techniques. He has pioneered the HAP technique for Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, which has been presented at prestigious international platforms including AIIMS New Delhi and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons Congress.

As an academic contributor, Dr. Shaw has several indexed publications, including in the British Journal of Surgery, and serves as a reviewer for the Indian Journal of Surgery. He is regularly invited as faculty at national surgical conferences and has been honored with an IASGO Travel Grant for his contributions.
